Vinteloper PN/16 Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir 2016
South Australia, Australia
Vinteloper likes to consider itself a "ring-leader of grown-up fun" and we agree! Serious wines that don't take themselves too seriously.
This Pinot Noir comes from a single vineyard in Kuitpo, Adelaide Hills, at an elevation of 390 metres. Clones MV6 & 777 for Pinot nuts. Fermented naturally, two-thirds whole bunch, all in French oak barrels of which 25% were new. Unfined and unfiltered, Dave recommends giving it a decant to unleash those amazing aromas. Think cherries, rose petals, Turkish delight and freshly turned soil. It's lean and complex like any great Pinot Noir should be. A wonderfully tense tannin profile is backed up by dried herbs, cinnamon and wood smoke.
Vinteloper has been the winner of the Pinot Palooza People's Choice Award twice (in 2015 and 2016), and runner-up twice (in 2014 and 2017), thanks to gorgeous Pinot Noir like this. It is truly one of Australia's best.
