Rasa Bright Red 2018
Barossa Valley, South Australia
Cinsault 67%, Grenache 33%
"Our wines don't fit inside a conventional framework, they don't fit beside all the others in a massed regional comparison," says young winemaker Andy Cummins of his Rasa Wines. He makes fewer than 2,000 bottles a year as a bit of a moonlighting project alongside the day job as a winemaker for Henschke.
He and Emma Welling have only made a few vintages of Rasa but already the wines are turning heads and they sell out quickly.
Think of the red wines of the Barossa Valley, really think of everything you know about the region, then throw all those thoughts out the window. These are fresh, sappy, juicy, avant-garde natural wines with character, class and exceptional poise.
Their Bright Red blend is precisely that, a bright, red blend - specifically Cinsault and Grenache. Really bright red fruits, Mediterranean dried herbs and a lick of spice are what take you on a vibrant taste journey. Really thrilling stuff!
