Mira do Ó Vidente Tinto 2016
Jaén 30%, Alfrocheiro 30%, Rufete 20%, Touriga Nacional 10%, Tinta Roriz 10%
Nuno Mira do Ó is the winemaker behind Druida, Vidente and V Puro, wines from the historic Dão, Bucelas and Bairrada regions of Portugal.
Vidente Tinto truly is a wide-ranging, complex Dão blend of Jaén, Alfrocheiro, Rufete, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz (aka Tempranillo in Spain), coming from typically high-altitude, cooler sites with quite a lot of rainfall and cool nights. These particular vineyards are planted on mostly granitic soils with clay elements and pronounced pebble stones at the surface.
Fermentation is natural and in tank, with ageing for 18 months in used French oak barrels to provide some structure but no real oak influence to the flavour. Extraction is minimal. What Nuno wants is a fresh and elegant wine that reflects the unique terroir of the Dão, and this is it.
Bright ruby in colour with aromas of cinnamon, red cherry and cocoa. It is so elegant, with fine, smooth tannins and a long, satisfying finish.
