Lockhart Cellars source top-notch grapes from carefully selected, sustainably farmed vineyards in Napa and Sonoma counties, and make their wines according to a philosophy of minimal intervention in the vineyard and the winery, with new oak avoided in order to let the fruit shine.
Their Cabernet Sauvignon is a classy number, and not at all a hackneyed over-extracted, over-oaked Napa Cab fruit bomb. No this has more than a nod to the Old World, with big blackcurrant fruit of course, but plenty of leafy freshness too. Tank and barrel fermented, then matured in neutral French oak barrels for six months.
