Être à l'Ouest Chardonnay 2018
Être à l'Ouest translates loosely as "leftfield" or "away with the fairies", which sums this bottle up pretty well! Crazy man on a crazy label, barely fined or filtered Chardonnay under a crown cap, from the historic south-west French region of Limoux, made for us by a chap from Champagne. Bruno hails from Epernay and his family still make Champagne in Pierry; but he also created his own domaine in Limoux - many would claim the ancestral home of bottle-fermented sparkling wine - and today farms 60 hectares of vines on limestone soils (certified Terre Vitis). This is properly delicious unoaked Chardonnay from the cooler climes of Limoux.
