Eekhoring is Afrikaans for "squirrel", and an exciting new collaboration between us and the talented guys at De Kleine Wijn Koöp in Stellenbosch.
It's a Cape blend of Cinsaut (what you'll typically see written as Cinsault in France), Syrah and Pinotage mostly from the Swartland plus a little bit from Voor-Paardeberg, made in a light-to-medium bodied style. It had a very light press, giving it just enough 'grip', but not too much. Think of it like a soft, flavourful minute steak just lightly seared, with a few good cracks of black pepper.
Not a shy retiring type, our red squirrel; but most certainly a red of the 'session' sort. The ultimate braai red, if you will. Only a few thousand bottled produced in this debut 2018 vintage.
And if you like this, why not try the white, Eekhoring Wit?
