Cossetti Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato 2019
Clementina Cossetti is the fourth-generation winemaker at the 30-hectare San Colombano estate in the heart of Asti, where her family has been farming for well over a century. It was in 1891 that Giovanni Cossetti first built a winery, and his son Clemente began achieving wider renown for their wines in the early years of the twentieth century.
Ruchè is a very rare native grape of Piedmont - specifically Castagnole Monferrato - that's becoming increasingly sought after by fans of elegant, lighter profile, heavily perfumed reds. Cossetti's Ruchè is made only in stainless steel tanks in order to accentuate those heady aromas.
The colour is moderately ruby red, the aroma intense with roses and berries. Medium-bodied and long in taste, this is a rarity not to be missed.
