How Julien Ilbert continues to combine massive length, inky dark colour, that intensity of bramble fruit and spice you seek from with Malbec, with boundless freshness is beyond us! Les Peyres Levades is a pretty special wine. It comes from a single block of vines just over half a hectare in size, planted nearly 60 years ago on Cahors' famous limestone soil (Julien says this particular spot has the purest limestone) and 320 metres above sea level. Fermentation happens in small stainless steel tanks, then the wine spends two years in old, big, 500-litre French oak barrels. This is so fresh, floral and cherry aroma, masses of fruit on the palate, lots of structure and finishing fresh as a daisy - as well as lasting very long in the mouth. A total triumph, and undoubtedly one of Cahors' finest red wines.

To place an order of wine from us you need to log-in to an existing account or create a new one (as well as making the order process quicker and easier for you, this helps us ensure our customers are over 18). New customers will be asked to enter an email address and create an account password.
No! Certainly not. Many online wine retailers will make you order a full case, but at Red Squirrel you can order a single bottle if that's what you would prefer. All we ask is that you spend at least £60 for free next working day UK delivery. The standard delivery cost for orders under £60 that amount is just £10.
If you order 6 or 12 bottles (and thereon in multiples of six) it reduces our packaging footprint, which helps us do our little bit to be a greener company.
