The Jourdan family has farmed here since the 1930s, their special old vines are herbicide-free and creating incredible wines. Current winemaker François Jourdan trained in Santenay, and he brings a Burgundian elegance and freshness to the Languedoc. Just 8,000 bottles of this traditional blend, the fruit all from a 2-hectare plot of vines as much as 116 years old. Hand-picked, no oak, just concrete. Fresh and clean, feeling so much like a Northern Rhône Syrah. Spice lingers forever in the mouth and on the air, long after the bright primary fruit has dissipated. "Our Cornas!" exclaims François' son Brice, when he sees the look of delight on our faces. Chapeau à tous!
Rob and Nik only stumbled across the wines of Château l'Argentier when trying François' Cinsault in a Montpellier wine bar, so enticing that the next day they were in the vineyard. Le reste est l'histoire...
