Ca' di Rajo Manzoni Rosa Spumante 2018
A voluptuously tasty pink fizz from the area of the Veneto where sparkling Prosecco is made and by a great Prosecco producer.
Except this is something a bit different: still a sparkling wine but using a super-rare local grape clinging on by a single-digit hectarage thread. Manzoni Rosa is a crossing of Trebbiano and Gewürztraminer created in the 1920s by Professor Manzoni. It saw a lot of activity in the 1950s and 1960s but very few commercial plantings remain.
It makes for a really deliciou, vivacious, lightly red-fruited sparkling wine in the spumante (i.e. fully fizzy) style.
