Bruna Pigato Le Russeghine 2017
The purest expression of Pigato comes almost entirely from Bruna's little Le Russeghine vineyard, 230 metres up in the hills above their home in Ranzo, grown in red clay soils. This historic spot has had a registered vineyard since the 1700s.
Hand-harvested, organically farmed vines, naturally fermented, aged on fine lees in steel then in old, neutral barrels for 8 months. Just a few thousand bottles made each year.
It's intensely flavoured with garrigue herbs (sage, thyme, pine, anise), salt, peaches, grapefruit and lemons, with dry almond skin finish.
The pinnacle of Pigato, and an excellent vintage.
