Virgin soils, a frontier wine region, and a stellar team. Okanagan Crush Pad was founded in the eponymous Canadian valley in 2011 by Christine Coletta and Steve Lornie, a shared facility for small farmers and winemakers, as well as home to their own growing range of organic & biodynamic wines.
Canyonview is a 2-hectare vineyard over Trout Creek Canyon with alluvial, limestone, granite and volcanic soils. This Pinot was harvested in October 2013, de-stemmed and sent straight to OCP's concrete eggs, bottled in March 2015. Berries, barnyard and herbs, lush red fruits, juicy, banging stuff. Haywire? It's a Canadian pioneering farm term meaning unpredictable and refers to Christine and Steve's winegrowing journey. Not the wine. The wine's predictably awesome.
