The Rarest of Grapes
Red Squirrel was founded in 2012 to seek out, promote and conserve native grape varieties. The red squirrels, not grey squirrels, of the wine world.
We remain passionate about safeguarding some of the world's rarest and most endangered grape varieties. Because if you don't drink them, we can't source them, and eventually growers won't grow them. Retaining a plethora of fascinating native grapes is good for biodiversity, sustainability and the survival of centuries of heritage and culture.
Here are some wines made from grapes that are rarer than most, with fewer than roughly 2,000 hectares of vineyards planted worldwide. And all delicious, more than enough proof that these grapes are worth saving.
