Ribolla Gialla is a mind-bogglingly old grape from Friuli, with records going back to the 13th century. It's even written about by Pope Boniface VIII in 1296. It's prevalent over the border in Slovenia too, where it's known as Rebula. True to its name (gialla means yellow), its wine is often a deep yellow colour and offers up rich citrus and melon fruit, good floral aromas and clean minerality.
