This old Swiss crossing of Riesling and Madeleine Royale doesn't have the greatest reputation, let's be honest. It's traditionally a chief component of Liebfraumilch and thrives in cooler, off-the-beaten track climates. It underpinned the New Zealand wine industry before Sauvignon Blanc came along. But let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater - if you want to, you can produce lovely wines with Müller-Thurgau.
