Martin Diwald's Diwald ChaGrü is an organic Chardonnay from Wagram, Austria, backed up by Grüner Veltliner and Pinot Blanc, giving it a multi-layered, minerally flavour.

New for us, Domaine Mathias is an exciting seventh-generation producer based in Pouilly-Fuissé, growing biodynamic Chardonnay and their Bourgogne Chardonnay is a clean, fresh wine with a nod to the classic regional style of the Mâconnais.

Matthew van Heerden Signature Chardonnay comes from a former international young winemaker of the year and someone with expert knowledge of the cooler-climate vineyards of Elgin, on the far southern tip of the continent. It's here that the likes of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay thrive and thrillingly so, to the extent that if you're a lover of fine burgundies these are right up your street.

Then we have not one, not two, but three dramatically distinct Chardonnays from Australia. Why, you ask? Because we love Australian Chardonnay and believe it stacks up with the best in the world.

From Tasmania, Bellwether Chardonnay shows the leaner, laser-sharp finesse this island's cooler climate can bestow, especially in the capable hands of former Australian winemaker of the year Sue Bell.

Even Keel Chardonnay by Sam Coverdale comes from another cool-climate region, Tumbarumba on the western fringes of the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales. Here it's altitude rather than latitude that bestows the possibility for making very fine Chardonnay.

Finally Murdoch Hill Chardonnay comes from one of the region's most highly regarded farms and winemakers, at some of the higher altitudes in the Onkaparinga Valley, showcasing a fine balance between fuller and leaner styles.
