Minho

The Minho probably isn't at the tip of many people's tongues when talking about Portuguese wines - we are more familiar with its most famous export, Vinho Verde (which translates as "Green Wine", but named for its youth not its colour!). But as a wine region it is one of the most exciting in Portugal with a breadth and depth of wine styles beyond the fresh vivaciousness of Vinho Verde. The climate is similar to Spanish Galicia to the north, so relatively cool and wet compared to the southern regions.
