Colombard

Colombard is one of those grapes we have all come across and many of us might have drunk without even knowing it. Alongside Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche it is the mainstay of Cognac production and therefore found planted all over the world, wherever people wanted to make brandies. Believe it or not, this is the most widely planted white grape in the whole of France. It's not all about brandy though because these days winemakers are turning out terrific wines using Colombard in ways a previous generation might not have thought possible.
